Apple announcement days don’t get much more busy than today, with new iPhones, new iPads, a big new Apple TV refresh and even some Apple Watch love seeing today’s media event turn out to be one of Apple’s most prolific yet.
With so much new hardware and software being shown off during the event and so much excitement surrounding things like the iPad Pro, it’s easy to lose track of just what was announced during Apple’s September event. Because of that we’re going to run through the big news of the day here, just so you don’t run the risk of missing out on anything thanks to information overload.
iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus
The one thing that we knew for sure was going to be announced today, Apple’s two new iPhones follow the usual cadence of smartphone releases that we have become accustomed to. That being said, this ‘s’ revision is one of the more feature-rich, with 3D Touch set to be a big deal if Apple’s demos are any indication.
Apple TV 4 with tvOS
It had been rumored for so long we almost wondered if it would ever happen, but today Apple finally announced a new Apple TV, complete with a redesigned interface, new remote and, importantly, apps. As part of that redesign is a new operating system, dubbed tvOS. Expect to see tvOS start receiving updates along the same lines of iOS and watchOS, with new functionality added over time.
t’s finally here. Apple’s large, 12.9-inch iPad Pro is very much real, and it ships in November. With accessories such as a Smart Keyboard and Apple Pencil, this is the iPad many had been waiting for. It’s big, it’s powerful, and it’s gorgeous.
Apple Watch and more
Apple also announced new accessories for Apple Watch, including new Sport band colors, new leather bands and new Gold and Rose Gold finish for the Sport Model.
As expected, iOS 9 and watchOS 2 have entered the Golden Master phase, meaning they’re pretty much done and ready to be pushed to everyone on September 16th. In fact, iOS 9 GM even goes so far as to say it has zero known bugs in its release notes! Brave words, indeed.
Apple also released OS X El Capitan GM though there is no public release date announced for the final version yet. iOS 9.1 beta 1 is also available to download now, which will likely be released when iPad Pro ships in November.
so announced was new storage prices for iCloud, along with brand new iPhone Upgrade Program.
